Responsible Tourism

It is impossible not to have an impact on the local environment, communities and eco-systems when travelling. It is possible, however, to limit these impacts. As part of our service, we encourage and assist our travellers to minimise potential negative impact and maximise their positive presence.

We ensure that people who work for Discover Sudan!  are paid fair wages.

We ensure that local people benefit economically by employing them as logistics managers and drivers as well as by frequenting local restaurants and locally provided accommodation where possible.

We minimise our impact on the environment by travelling in small groups.

We integrate camping options into our itineraries, which is better for the environment.

In many parts of Sudan water is in extremely short supply. Please bear this in mind when washing and showering and try to limit your water usage as much as possible.

Please make sure that you take any rubbish back to the hotels and camps with you so that  it can be properly disposed of.

Please do not buy any products made from endangered species – this is not sustainable and hastens the species’ decline.

Things in different countries will almost certainly be different. That doesn’t make them worse or inferior, just different. As you are a guest, you should comply with local customs. If you are friendly and well mannered, local communities will reciprocate and this will enhance your travel experience. It is important to follow dress and behaviour guidelines. Your tour leader will advise you how best to do this.
